Erythritol powder - the calorie-free and natural replacement for powdered sugar

Erythritol powder is as fine and looks like the commercially available powdered sugar. It can be used as powdered sugar as a non-caloric sweetener!

Erythritol is a sugar alcohol of natural origin and can be found in as Mushrooms or fermented foods as well as in wine or cheese.

Compared to sugar Erythritol offers more advantages:

The sweetening power is approximately 70% compared to sugar and tastes mild sweet with a slightly cooling taste. However, Erythritol has the same volume as sugar and therefore does not require any fillings. If you does not like it as sweet as sugar, just replace sugar against erythritol 1 to 1. For the same sweetness like sugar you have to supplement it by 20-30g per 100g to get the same sweetness.

A significant advantage of erythritol is that this sweetener is not metabolized in the human body and has no calories (<0.2 calories per 100 g). Although erythritol is a carbohydrate, it does not behave as such, that is, it is not converted into energy in human body. When carbohydrate calculation Erythritol can therefore be disregarded.

Toothfriendly is erythritol, because it inhibits the growth of bacteria in the mouth and thus the development of caries and tartar can be prevented. Erythritol also has the property not to increase blood sugar levels after eating and therefore does not cause insulin release in the body. For diabetics this sugar substitute is therefore an excellent alternative to safely eat something sweet.

The WHO / FAO Joint Expert Committee on Food Additves (JECFA) designed for the ADI (acceptable daily intake / amount of sweetener that can be taken daily without hesitation to be) "not specified" fixed. The warning that excessive intake of erythritol has a laxative effect, comes from a with EU Regulation for all food additives. Unlike other polyols, erythritol is however almost completely absorbed in the small intestine, thus avoiding potential side effects such as bloating or diarrhea if you have high consumption are unlikely.
